Biography
Jiří Chlum (*1964) - Organ
He studied to play the organ in Conservatoire Teplice in classes of prof. Elizabeth Brinsden (Australia) and of professor Michal Novenko in Prague. In 1997 he attended courses of improvisation in baroque and romantic style in Frankfurt upon Odra at Doc. Peter van Dijk (the Netherlands) and Doc. Krzysztof Ostrowsky (Poland), in 2006 he attended interpretative course of professor Kamila Klugar at JAMU in Brno. He studied organ improvisation at professor Jaroslav Vodrážka in Prague.
In years 1985-1998 he acted as an organist in several Prague cathedrals. He is a long-time organist of the parish basilica of Virgin Mary in Filipov, where he, beside other things, founded Summer festival "Organ Sacred Music in Filipov". He dedicates himself to pedagogic and concert activities in our country and abroad as well. He performs at home music festivals such as "Kladruby Summer" or "Církvice music festival". He cooperates with foreign musical ensembles "Ostsächsisches Kammerorchester" and "Ebersbacher Kantorei" (Germany).
In 2007 he recorded a CD album "Organ of Filipov" for editorial company Rosa. In 2008 he recorded CD album with unique baroque and classicistic organ of the Northern Bohemia. In 2010 he recorded a CD album "Ave Maria" for editorial company KNA.
